Florida State headed into Provo as heavy underdogs against BYU Saturday. Lee Corso, a former FSU graduate said BYU would win by at least three touchdowns. No way in Hell could FSU walk on BYU’s home field, where the Cougars had won the previous 18 games played there, and pull off the upset. Well they did. And now, a piece of that field will be buried in Florida State’s Sod Cemetery!

Florida State dominated the game from start to finish and silenced all critics who thought the Jacksonville State game was a sign of things to come from this season. Excitement is back in the air in Tallahassee and the Seminoles are full speed ahead as they host the USF Bulls this coming week.

But for now, let’s look back at the massacre that was Florida State vs. BYU.

Ponder potent in passing game.

Christian Ponder had one of the best games of his career Saturday night as he complete 21 of his 26 pass attempts for 195 yards, throwing for two touchdowns and no interceptions. The redshirt junior also ran for another 77 yards and a touchdown.

Reid-iclous!

True freshman Greg Reid continues to make big plays and make a name for himself in Tallahassee. Reid picked off Heisman candidate Max Hall and returned it 64 yards for his first career touchdown. I have a feeling that won’t be his last touchdown either.

The win by Florida State puts them at #18 in the latest AP poll and they will have one more chance to move up before they jump back into conference play as the Tribe will play host to USF this weekend. The Bulls will be without senior quarterback Matt Grothe who tore his ACL and will miss the remainder of the season.
